Inspirational Women: Fanny Bourdette-Donon

We were so excited to welcome Fanny Bourdette-Donon as the first guest of our Inspirational Women Series in Trinity term.

Fanny is the international PR and special projects manager for Dior Beauty, launching products and working closely with the luxury house’s brand ambassadors. She was born in France and spent her childhood travelling between different African countries before moving back to France to study law. She then relocated to Los Angeles to pursue her passion and completed a BA in California at Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.

Fanny's biggest piece of advice for those looking to work in the fashion industry was "Don't be in a rush to get specialised unless you know right away what you want to become." She emphasised that you do not need to come from a fashion background to succeed in the industry, herself having studied Law initially.

She also reminded attendees of the importance of having "allies" in your life: "Most of the time you are going to need people who are cheering for you from the inside." She encouraged students to ignore feeling like they are "annoying" somebody by following-up and networking: "Of course, always be polite, but perseverance always pays off."
