Join us for discussion and networking drinks with Carine Smith Ihenacho, the Chief Governance and Compliance Officer at Norges Bank Investment Management. OxWIB is collaborating with Oxford Diplomatic Society to consider the intersection of finance and diplomacy. The world’s largest sovereign wealth fund is held by Norway, stemming from oil and gas. Norway’s $1.3 trillion wealth fund operates under ethical guidelines set by parliament and excludes companies from its investments that it says do not respect them. It can also put them on a watchlist for possible exclusion at a later stage. This includes climate change and human rights breaches. In what way is, and should, a country’s finance be included in the conversation of diplomacy in the 21st century?
Venue: Trinity College, Garden Room (in Levine Building)
