Welcome to OxWIB!
OxWIB was founded in 2008 at the University of Oxford to connect talented young women with opportunities and inspiration. Our goal is to cultivate strong female leaders by serving as a platform for enterprising and ambitious young women across the university. We host networking and recruitment events with top-tier global companies, run a popular 'Inspirational Speaker' series with women from all career stages and industries, and offer workshops to help build business and entrepreneurial skills. We also run a mentorship programme, connecting OxWIB members with experienced female professionals. Please enjoy the highlights of this joint Oxford Women in Business x Oxford Recording Society panel discussion to discover more from inspiring women working in the music industry as they give a diverse and insightful look into their careers. Speakers: Alicia Gómez, known professionally as Ali Stone, is a record producer, multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, and DJ from Colombia. She is a female producer in an industry which is 98% male, and a longtime advocate for women and also mental health. Andreea Magdalina, currently based out of Los Angeles, Andreea’s work focuses on the interaction between music and technology. In her spare time, she created her own podcast, Cartish Radio, a platform for her passion for storytelling and human interest.
Inspirational Women: Fanny Bourdette-Donon | OxWIB

Our goal is to cultivate strong female leaders by serving as a platform for enterprising and ambitious young women across the university. We run a popular "Inspirational Women" series with women from all career stages and industries, and we are very excited to welcome Fanny Bourdette-Donon as our first guest of the term. Fanny is the international PR and special projects manager at Dior Beauty, launching products and working closely with the luxury house’s brand ambassadors. She was born in France and spent her childhood across different African countries before moving back to France to study law. She then relocated to Los Angeles to pursue her passion and completed a BA in California at Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. We are very excited to present our first panel discussion of the term bringing together inspirational women working in fashion media, design, and entrepreneurship as they give their diverse and insightful perspectives from across the fashion industry. Speakers: Lauren Indvik: Lauren Indvik is the fashion editor of the Financial Times, leading the paper's style coverage online and in print. Prior to joining the FT in 2020, she co-founded and edited Vogue Business, an industry-focussed spin-off of the globally recognised fashion bible. Bethany Williams: Bethany Williams is a pioneering British menswear designer committed to exploring social and environmental change within her work and working with marginalised parts of society to bring about positive change and social enterprise. Iretidayo Zaccheaus: Iretidayo Zaccheaus, a student at the University of Manchester, is the founder of Street Souk, the first streetwear convention in Nigeria. Inspirational Women: Jacqueline Gold | OxWIB

Our goal is to cultivate strong female leaders by serving as a platform for enterprising and ambitious young women across the university. We run a popular "Inspirational Women" series with women from all career stages and industries, and we are very excited to welcome Jacqueline Gold as our second guest of the term. Jacqueline is the CEO of Ann Summers and Knickerbox. She is renowned for managing a company run by women and for women. At the age of 21, she started working at her father's company, Ann Summers. As she learnt more about the Ann Summers of the 1970s, she saw the potential to change the focus of the business from being male-oriented to focusing more on women. Overcoming the challenges of being in a male-dominated industry, she helped transform Ann Summers into the multi-million pound business we see today that allows women to browse and shop for lingerie and sex toys in a safe, female-friendly environment. We are very excited to present our second panel discussion of the term, bringing together inspirational women working in the technology industry. Speakers: Flavilla Fongang, Matilda Andersson and Jeanette Carlsson Flavilla Fongang is a serial entrepreneur, author and the founder of 3 Colours Rule, an award-winning branding and neuromarketing agency. Computer Weekly named her among the top 5 most influential women in tech in the UK. She is also the founder of Tech London Advocates for Black Women in Tech. She hosts Tech Brains Talk podcast providing insights and advice to tech entrepreneurs and companies. Matilda Andersson is an international model turned computer scientist and AI expert. Her goal is to digitise the human brain and use machine learning to improve our lives. Matilda is an advocate of diversity and inclusion and took part in building Sweden's largest network for female developers, Pink Programming. She has been awarded multiple prizes for her tech skills and entrepreneurial mindset ,and most recently, Microsoft named her ‘tech-girl of the year'. Jeanette Carlsson is a leading expert in the digital, innovation, and tech spaces with over 30 years experience growing and advising startups. She is currently the founder and CEO of Tech Nordic Advocates and newmedia2.0 – the UK’s leading independent strategy and innovation advisors to tech sector companies. Jeanette has previously served as an Expert Advisor in the European Innovation Council Accelerator for the European Commission and concurrently serves as a lecturer at the University of Warwick in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Her expertise has been recognized countless times and most notably by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace for her contribution to London's startup ecosystem. https://www.oxwib.com

Speakers: Neeta Patel CBE, CEO of the Centre for Entrepreneurs. Neeta was awarded a CBE in October 2020 for services to entrepreneurship and technology. She has a broad range of commercial experience in finance, media, publishing, education and the arts. She has also worked in private equity and led her own Fintech startup. Anneliese James-Ryan, Founder of 22Midnight. 22Midnight specialise in auditing all your communication channels and improving them. Annelies has several years of expertise in entrepreneurship, brand audits, marketing strategy and digital content. She is also the Co-Curator of TED x Southampton. Maria Rotilu, Managing Director of the Oxford Seed Fund. Maria currently leads the Oxford Seed Fund as the Managing Director, investing up to £50k in two Oxford-affiliated start-ups every year. She is a former Management Consultant at Deloitte who transitioned into helping technology start-ups scale in Sub-Saharan Africa.
